I love that thing in Lord of the Rings where the villains spend so much time obsessing over the character they believe is their Destined Archenemy that they overlook the character who actually defeats them
The Witch-King of Angmar, the Black Rider, seems to be Destined to fight the wizard Gandalf, the White Rider. He doesn’t consider Eowyn a threat right up until she stabs him in the face
Saruman is fixated on defeating Theoden, Aragorn and Gandalf in an Epic Light vs Dark Fantasy Battle at Helm’s Deep. So he completely overlooks the two hobbits and bunch of trees sitting right next door, who proceed to destroy Isengard
Sauron is fixated on defeating Aragorn, the Destined King of the Heroes and descendant of the man who defeated him last time. So he completely overlooks Frodo and Sam, who proceed to actually defeat him
Online Dungeon Master’s is a great new community for players to search through their team of experienced and enthusiastic Dungeon Masters to find the perfect play style for their party.
Each DM has their own pricing and way of running a game. Some use Roll20 and make their own maps, some get immersive with theater of the mind, some build around intrigue and others still can make CLASSIC Dungeon Crawls!
This all these great DM’s to choose from, some have entered a contest to show off their current campaigns! My boyfriend Jack is our Game Master and gave us a wildly fun ride with Call of Cthulhu
One of the biggest power moves I have here in the midwest when someone is being racist, sexist, homophobic is that I tell them that I’ll pray for them so that god can grace them with empathy, or that “I feel sorry the devil has made his home in your heart” cause you have not felt joy until you’ve flipped the script on a suburban house mom or an old racist white man. The joy of watching their face in shock and confusion while they’re called out in Christian Standards the same way they try to cover for their homophobia is amazing. 100% suggest it, at the very least it gets them to shut the fuck up.
Good Christian Hacks, an open-ended series
Works wonders in the South, too.
And if they start to stutter and quote some cherry-picked Bible verse at you, come back at them with “yes, even the Devil can quote scripture, but that doesn’t mean he understands it. I’ll pray for God to grant you understanding in the fullness of His word.”
i showed my friend the sun bears from that post and he was like “what about moon bears” and there IS in fact a type of bear nicknamed the moon bear and fuckingh nothing could’ve prepared me for the images
So, the women’s speed climbing world record got smashed today by Aries Susanti Rahayu (@AriesClimber). 6.995 s. First posted sub 7 sec time (with a splinted middle finger!). Amazeballs!
anyone else relate to internalized ableism causing you to put off taking meds because people “worry you take too many” and insist you “try natural remedies first”?
and because you put them off, you suffer for hours just because you can?
it’s hard for me to remember but you don’t have to force yourself to be in pain just because you’re expected to, or just because you can
this might be a hard pill to swallow for college students but getting drunk all the time isnt a personality trait it’s alcoholism
Here’s another pill: companies and ad teams know that your 20s are extremely stressful and they purposely target you because they don’t care about making us all alcoholics as much as they care about profiting off of us.
cooler pill that I’d wish I’d known about when I was younger: if you’re struggling with alcohol, AA isn’t your only option. AA can be a bit dogmatic and sometimes hostile to certain communities, especially the LGBT.
there’s a group called SMART Recovery that has free meetings just like AA, but it’s all science-based and secular.
and here’s the thing for college students: unlike with AA, it’s okay if your goal is moderation and not abstinence. no one is going to make you feel like a bad guy for being young and just wanting help getting healthier, but perhaps not wanting to commit to being totally abstinent. google SMART Recovery, guys. they’re awesome. :)
Reblog for non-religious version of AA
Just be careful to avoid these groups. The Church of Scientology loves to use substance abuse support groups as a front.
